From the files...this is an ottoman project I completed TWO summers ago! Though it is nothing special...just a basic reupholster job, it is one of my favorites because I owe the VERY thrifty find to my husband. I had shown him a blog post that I had discovered with an "easy" tutorial on how to update an old ottoman. Being that this was so long ago, it was pre-pinterest and so I had to look through all 1 million of my bookmarked pages in my "crafting" folder...but here is the original link, you're welcome :)

It was not two days later that the hubby came home with a very cute, $1 garage sale ottoman!! Note the great legs as well...nice work babe!! So I found some cute home decor fabric and got to work.

It was not two days later that the hubby came home with a very cute, $1 garage sale ottoman!! Note the great legs as well...nice work babe!! So I found some cute home decor fabric and got to work.
1. Remove the old nasty cover & do NOT save the material for a future project like I usually do... yuck! I also tried to take note and remember how the fabric was originally stapled to the underside of the ottoman...like how it was folded, etc.
2. Place the old fabric on top of the new if there are funky corners to cut out. Lay the ottoman upside down on top of the new fabric. As far as the corners, I am not sure if it was smart to cut them out this way, but its seemed to work OK. I have since done other ottoman projects and just leave the fabric in a rectangle shape and strategically fold the fabric around the legs...you can also add nail heads around the legs to help finish it off.
3. Next you are going to pull the fabric up around the sides and staple underneath the ottoman frame. I start in the middle of each side...pulling as tight as you can. Then finish stapling around. My mom's hand staple gun was not quite strong enough because I ended up hammering the staples in the full amount. I should have had an electric gun :)
After a quick spray with fabric starch for protection, done!! I might re-stain the legs at some point, but I love the fabric choice! Stay tuned for my next ottoman project...turning a coffee table into a large square ottoman!!
