I love my friends, whenever we have a party I get put in charge of anything crafty/creative!! I love an excuse + deadline for a project!! So for an "un baby shower" we had for two 2nd time mommy gym buds we wanted something like a gift card tree. Something to give the ladies that would also display all of the gift cards we were giving them. So I started searching for baby gifts that could somehow hold gift cards. I saw some really cute "baby announcement wreaths" and thought, "Gift cards could be clipped to a wreath fairly easily?!" That is how this Burlap Baby Announcement/Gift Card Holder Wreath was born. Mmmm name to long? Who cares... I love a dual purpose gift!!!
So I followed Bridget's blog post: Burlap Wreath to make my wreath. Her wreath is bigger and fuller. She used 3 burlap rolls per wreath and I used just under 1. I think that she must have also pulled the twist ties around both edges of the strip to pull it together more, make it more "bubbly"? If that makes sense? I want to make just a plain burlap wreath for my own door and might see if that works better. ;-)
Then I added a small ribbon flower, clothespins and two signs. The signs are made from the thin wooden shapes from Michaels. I painted the signs with gray watercolors, drilled two holes with my little hand drill at the top and threaded twine for the "It's a Girl/Boy" sign (the back says, "It's a Boy"). I wrote using permanent marker.

Anyone else have good gift card holder ideas? How about a baby announcement on the door... cheesy or a good way to ward off nosy neighbors?
