Here are two decorative pillows I made for our living room couch. I new I needed one large comfortable pillow for the couch being that it is more of a "structured" couch. The pillow insert is from Ikea, they have really affordable feather pillows--I think it was like $8? For the cover I chose a soft gray micro-suede for one side and a teal cotton accent color for the reverse. I really like how the teal peaks out the back, but isn't too distracting. I apologize that you can not see the teal reverse in the photo.
The second pillow is more decorative, yet still a comfy feather because those are just the only way to go. The pillow insert is from a thrift store and I ripped off the old fabric for a reuse! The new cover is made from curtains, I bought gray Ikea curtains for the adjoining dining room and they come like 92 inches long. So I cut and hemmed the curtains and used the left-over fabric for this pillow.
The flower details on the small pillow are very simple:
1. Cut "8" shapes (2 per flower, one slightly smaller than the other)
2. Layer the smaller petal on top of the larger, pinch the middle and sew a couple of stitches through the back of both petals.
3. Make sure to sew the flowers onto the pillow case front before sewing the cover together, it will be easier that way.
